For over ten years, Jonny Ross Music has been putting incredible musicians on stage to create unforgettable live events. Based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Jonny Ross Music is proud to provide bespoke entertainment packages that are both fun and professional.

From humble beginnings in playing in local music venues, founder, Jonny Ross, has established a network of dedicated bands, DJs, and musicians who perform at weddings, parties, and functions around the world. 

Led by a passion for music and an understanding of the industry from every angle, Jonny and the motivated team bring the freshest talent to stages of all sizes. 

Where Did It All Start?

After working and playing as a solo artist throughout his history degree at university, Jonny briefly put music aside to get a ‘real’ job selling industrial fencing. After four less-than-riveting months in the graduate role, he realised that playing live music was the only path to happiness. Driving to work one day he decided enough was enough, handed in his notice, left an hour later and drove to a music store on his way home to buy the equipment he needed to become a full-time musician. And thus the journey to Jonny Ross Music began in 2011. 

It wasn’t long before Jonny joined forces with the talented team that would become The Jonny Ross Band — and the original line-up is still in full swing today! Energetic and upbeat, with a vast repertoire, The Jonny Ross Band has performed at over 600 events. A particular highlight? Playing at the 2014 opening ceremony of the Tour De France at Harewood House to over 20,000 people — including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

All this experience has given Jonny a true insight into what it means to be a gigging artist. And this is why making sure performers have the best experience possible is so central to the Jonny Ross Music ethos.

From Performing to Representing

Being a live musician is a dream come true for many — but it also comes with a lot of admin! The band learned to navigate building contacts and managing their own bookings, with support from Jonny’s wife Ellie, who’s also a talented DJ. 

Friends from other bands began asking for help with bookings, too, and Ellie joined the company full time as Bookings Manager in 2014. The first act they signed to the agency was acoustic duo, Colour Blue. With Jonny’s guidance Colour Blue became one of the U.K’s most popular acoustic acts. The second act to join was Marc & Abi, an exciting fun packed duo that perform both acoustically and as a band. Both Colour Blue and Marc & Abi have performed worldwide over the last 8 years and enjoy regular gigs in Tahiti. They are still with the agency to this day and are close friends with Jonny & Ellie. 

The business has gone from strength to strength and now represents over 50 bands, musicians and DJs. With this growth came another hire —  in 2018, Kyle joined as Office Manager. A friendship blossomed after Jonny played at Kyle’s wedding a couple of years before, and a collaboration soon formed. Kyle started out DJing for the agency, and subsequently took on an office role. 

As a music agency run by musicians, performance is at the heart of the business. Together, the team have built up a close-knit, loyal community — and Jonny Ross Music now provides entertainment worldwide. All the wedding bands, acoustic acts, and party DJs that connected with the agency in the early days are still with them exclusively, testament to the company’s focus on musician happiness. They now do over 1000 weddings and events a year and are one of the most sought after music agencies in the U.K.

As a company they arrange regular days and nights out so that all the bands can socialise, network and relax. It is this community aspect that make the agency unique.
